Malayalam Director Venu died




Malayalam Cinema's first Multi Starrer movie maker Director Venu is now no more with us. Venu was suffering from Parkinson disease and died on 25th May in his residence at Shenoi Nagar at Chennai.



 Thrissur Purunattkara Makazhi Madhavan Kurup and Pattathil Amminiamma's son Venu came to the world of cinema with the Marryland Studio. Venu had directed approximately 32 movies in his career and produced Seven movies including "Virunnukari". 1967 released his first movie "Udyogastha" became a huge hit. Venu's Directorial venture movie "CID Nazir" make Prem Nazir a CID Official, which resulted into many movies with Nityaharitha Nayakan Prem Nazir in Venu's life.



Vidhubala and Jayabharati are Venu's contribution to the cinema world. Venu said to be  started the trend of Investigative stories in Malayalam Cinema. "Prethangalude Thazvara", "Taxikar", "Viruthan Shanku" are his major movies. First movie's success brought Venu to Production field with the banner of Anupama. In 2005, Kerala Film Critics Association bestowed him with the Award for his contribution to the Malayalam Cinema. After the gap of 12 years, On the request of Jagathy Sreekumar and Sreenivasan, Venu directed a movie named "Parashala Pachan, Payanoor Paramu" in 1999. His last movie was "Parinamam" as director, starring Nadumudi Venu, Kaviyoor Ponamma, Madambu Kunjukuttan, Ashokan, Archana and Shalu Menon.



Venu had claimed that his movie "Udyogastha" was first multi starrer in malayalam cinema featuring Satyan, Prem Nazir, Ummar, Sharada, Sheela and others. He was survived by wife, daughter and a son. His body will be cremated at Cheruthurthi on the sides of Bharathapuzha.
